On-Campus Student Distribution

Walsh Parents/Guardians,

Our district is moving to a 1-to-1 model for student devices with BRAND NEW Chromebooks. If you currently have a school/district issued device, we will swap it out with a BRAND NEW Touchscreen Chromebook. If your student has been bringing their personal device, we have one for you as well!

Students who have a laptop for their BIM or Tech Apps class will keep their laptop, they can also have one of the new Chromebooks checked out as well.

Before new devices can be distributed, we need you to fill out the Mobile Device Use Agreement Form / (Spanish form) for each of your Walsh students. Please do not enter any students who do not attend Walsh MS. Please read the form carefully, as it contains information about compliance, loss or damage, content filtering and other terms of the agreement.

This form / (Spanish Form) will be available beginning 11/19/2020. Please note that we will not be distributing devices to students without this form acknowledged by both the student and a parent/guardian.

We will be distributing the Chromebooks to on-campus learners the week of November 30th. Please ensure that your student brings their district device and charger each day so that a swap can be made on their designated day.

After the distribution of the new district Chromebooks, the onboarding of personal devices will no longer be maintained. Your student will be expected to bring their district device charged every day. If they forget their device or it is not charged when they arrive at school they will have to do their class assignments with paper and pencil.

If they have a technical issue with their device they should contact Mrs. Lacourse at the computer help desk in the commons from 8:00-8:30 each morning or during their lunch block.

Both the old Chromebook and charger will need to be swapped out for the new ones so please bring them both with you.

We will be distributing the Chromebooks to virtual learners at the following times:

6th Grade Virtual Students: Dec. 8th, 4:00 pm – 6:30 pm
7th Grade Virtual Students: Dec. 9th, 4:00 pm – 6:30 pm
8th Grade Virtual Students: Dec 10th, 4:00 pm – 6:30 pm

More specific information about pick-up will come closer to Dec. 8th. Parents can pick up the new device without the student, provided the form has been completed and the parent has any devices/cords that need to be swapped out.
